Housesitting

“Housesitting, the perfect way to slow down, settle in, and truly experience a place”

Housesitting

Taking a Break… by Taking Care

During our travels, we occasionally hit the pause button—not because we don’t love the adventure, but because even full-time travelers need a little Rest & Rooftops (R&R). And what better way to do that than housesitting? More specifically, housesitting with pets, or as we like to call it, getting adopted by someone else’s furry family for a while.

When you travel indefinitely like we do, you are constantly on the move. It is an incredible way to live, a dream for many. But being always on the road also means being always in motion. That is where housesitting comes in for us. Over time, we discovered that staying in one place for a while—not just as visitors, but as temporary locals—adds depth to our journey.

With housesitting, we get the best of both worlds:
• A cozy home base to settle in for a while
• The joy of caring for pets (without the long-term responsibility)
• A chance to experience a place in a deeper way

It allows us to slow down, recharge, and truly enjoy a location—not just passing through, but living in it for a while. And let’s be honest, having a dog wag its tail at you like you are the best thing since sliced sausage never gets old.

On this page, we will share everything you need to know about housesitting and petsitting, including:
• How to start housesitting & petsitting (Yes, you can do it too!)
• Which platform connects homeowners and us as sitters
• What to look out for when caring for someone else’s home & pets
• Our personal experiences and favorite housesits around the world (yes, around the world)

So, if you are curious about how taking care of a home and pets can feel like a vacation in itself, read on!
