Japan

In September and October of 2024 we spent a full month in Japan.

We visited most cities and we did a 10-day camping trip in Central Japan.

Japan

In September and October 2024, we finally had the chance to visit Japan—a destination that had been on our wish list for years. Despite our many travel plans over time, Japan always seemed to get postponed. But when we mapped out our Asia tour for the end of 2024, we knew it was time to make it happen.

We spent a month exploring this captivating country, which, as you might expect, was not nearly enough to see it all. Even so, we managed to craft a well-balanced itinerary: a mix of discovery, cultural immersion, and just enough breathing room to truly enjoy the experience. One highlight of our trip was fulfilling our wish to travel and camp for ten days in a small campervan—a fantastic way to see a different side of Japan. Our journey included iconic cities like Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, and Fukuoka, all connected by the high-speed Shinkansen, Japan’s world-famous bullet train. But the campervan adventure was just as memorable. Starting and ending in Tokyo, we created a scenic loop through central Japan, visiting stunning destinations such as Mount Fuji, Ago Bay, Nara, Kanazawa, and the breathtaking Japanese Alps.

While it was a thoughtfully planned trip, there is still so much of Japan left to explore. It is a country that endlessly fascinates and beckons us back. We know we will return—hopefully sooner rather than later. Have you experienced Japan yet?

Discover Japan

Japan is a stunning country that captivates in countless ways. Did you know it is one of the most popular travel destinations in the world? Whether you are drawn to vibrant cities, a rich history and culture, or the incredible diversity of nature and landscapes, Japan truly has it all.

And as if that were not enough, the people are exceptionally warm, friendly, and eager to help.

Tokyo is, of course, the place to visit. As one of the largest cities in the world, it impresses on every level. But do not overlook other cities like Kyoto, Osaka, Fukuoka, and Hiroshima, each offering something unique. Kyoto is a treasure trove of history and tradition, while Osaka—Japan’s bustling second city—is renowned for its lively atmosphere and energetic nightlife. In Hiroshima, history comes to life in a powerful way; visiting the peace monuments is a deeply moving experience that will leave a lasting impression.

But Japan is not just about its cities. The natural beauty is equally remarkable. Imagine the Japanese Alps in central Japan, with the iconic Mount Fuji standing proudly against the horizon. Picture serene lakes, mountain landscapes, and tranquil villages that invite you to slow down and take it all in. The country’s diversity is astounding, from snowy winters and mild summers of Hokkaido in the north to the subtropical Okinawa archipelago in the south.

And then there is the food. The incredible Japanese cuisine is a reason to visit all on its own. From fresh sushi and comforting ramen to local delicacies you will not find anywhere else, every dish feels like a celebration. Combine this with the ultra-efficient infrastructure—like the famous Shinkansen bullet trains—and the genuine hospitality of the locals, and you have a destination that is nothing short of extraordinary.
