Hong Kong

In November 2024 we visited HongKong for the second time together.

The main reason was to visit our friends Lui and Frank.

HongKong

In 2018, we visited Hong Kong together for the first time. For Geert, however, it was not the first time: he had already been there in 2012 with his good friend Brian, to visit their mutual friend Frank. It was an unforgettable trip for several reasons. In 2018, Geert returned, this time with Ella of course, for a very special occasion: the wedding of Lui and Frank. It was a great party full of love, culture and unforgettable moments in this vibrant city. Fast forward to 2024: during our ‘summer holiday’ in the Netherlands we saw Frank and Lui again, which only made the memories of Hong Kong more vivid.

When we came close to Hong Kong during our Asia tour, we of course could not pass up the opportunity to visit them again. In November 2024, we spent three fantastic days with them in this wonderful metropolis. From reliving old memories to discovering new places, it was a perfect mix of friendship and adventure. Hong Kong continues to inspire us and always evokes that irresistible urge to return. What are your favorite memories of Hong Kong? Share them with us! And if you haven’t been yet, let this page with valuable information and tips inspire you.

Discover Hong Kong

Hong Kong is an incredible city that deserves a spot on every traveler’s itinerary.

Whether you’re visiting for a few days or planning a longer stay, this vibrant metropolis offers endless opportunities to explore, experience, and enjoy.

For first-time visitors, we recommend spending at least three days in Hong Kong to see the highlights. If you can spare more time, add another day or two to fully immerse yourself in everything the city has to offer. With extra time, you can explore at a relaxed pace and visit some of its iconic attractions, like the awe-inspiring Big Buddha or the charming fishing village of Lei Yue Mun for fresh seafood. Feeling adventurous?

Take a ferry to Macau for a day trip or cross the border into Shenzhen, China, for a unique experience.

Of course, no trip to Hong Kong is complete without wandering through the bustling streets of Kowloon or exploring the sophisticated vibe of Central on Hong Kong Island. The city’s rich mix of tradition and modernity will leave you amazed at every turn.

Practicalities? Hong Kong is easy to navigate and visa-free for many nationalities. The local currency is the Hong Kong dollar, and credit cards are widely accepted. The city’s climate is generally favorable year-round, though summers can be hot, and typhoon season runs from August to December.
