Housesitting

During our travels we occasionally take a 'break' to recover from the continuous travel dynamics. We often fill this break by means of a housesit and more specific, houesits with pets. Petsitting so to say.

Read all about the possibilities of housesitting and about our experiences and housesits on this page.

Housesitting

When you are traveling indefinitely like us, you are always on the road. That is fantastic and a life many dream of. But if you are always on the road, you also experience a certain travel dynamic every day. Over time we have discovered housesitting. As a result, we are occasionally in a fixed location where we look after a house and the pets in that house.

And that gives us the opportunity to occasionally "recover" at 1 location during our dynamic travel life.

On this page we tell you everything about housesitting and petsitting:

  • How can you start housesitting and petsitting?

  • Which platforms are there that bring supply and demand together?

  • What should you pay attention to if you want to babysit houses and animals?

And of course our experiences with housesitting and a number of blogs about the best housesits we've done. So let us first take you to our first housesit ever.

Los Gatos - California

Our first housesit was in Los Gatos (Cal), through the website Mind my House.

At that point, we had just completed almost two months of travelling in Mexico and we had been on our indefinite journey for over a year. We hadn't been to the US for a while and the plan was to spend some time in the US during the winter 21/22. So we went looking for a suitable housesit, to relax and reflect on more than a year of travelling. And to look ahead and make new travel plans.

We got in touch with Susan, she was looking for housesitters for a period of 7 weeks to look after her cat Lenny. After we came into contact with Susan via the website, we had a video call and we settled it pretty quickly. Our first housesit was a fact, on to Los Gatos in California.
